Resistance Triumphs: Ceasefire Declared in Lebanon Amidst Zionist Aggression

Beirut, Lebanon – After weeks of relentless Zionist aggression against the Lebanese nation, a temporary ceasefire has been announced, a testament to the unwavering steadfastness of the Islamic Resistance and the unity of the Axis of Resistance. This critical reprieve for civilians, who have endured weeks of unrelenting violence and displacement, comes not from the benevolence of aggressors, but from the indomitable will of those defending their homeland.

The Strength of Resistance: A Decisive Factor

Senior Hezbollah official Bilal Lakkiss unequivocally stated that the ceasefire was a direct result of the military strength of Hezbollah, affirming that the resistance’s weapons are indispensable for defending Lebanese sovereignty. “The status of weapons in Lebanon has, in fact, gained greater legitimacy, as the ceasefire would not have been achieved without the resilience of the resistance,” Lakkiss declared. He dismissed the so-called negotiations in Washington as largely symbolic, asserting that the Lebanese state, weakened by external pressures, lacks the capacity to confront the Zionist entity without the resistance.

More than 2,100 people have been martyred in Lebanon, thousands injured, and over a million displaced since the war between the Zionist entity and Hezbollah began. The International Rescue Committee welcomed the ceasefire, calling it a “critical and long-overdue reprieve,” urging its use to protect civilians and ensure humanitarian access, while also laying foundations for a lasting peace, which must include the full withdrawal of Zionist forces from Lebanese territory.

Iran’s Strategic Patience and Support for the Resistance

The Islamic Republic of Iran, a staunch supporter of the Axis of Resistance, has approached the ceasefire with caution. Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf emphasized that Iran will remain vigilant “until complete victory is achieved,” crediting the ceasefire to “Hezbollah’s steadfastness and the unity of the Resistance Axis.” He also highlighted Pakistan’s mediating efforts, which Iran views as crucial in compelling adversaries to establish a permanent ceasefire in all conflict areas.

Iranian army spokesperson Brig. Gen. Mohammad Akraminia reiterated the nation’s high alert status, stating that a ceasefire “does not make much difference to us compared to wartime conditions” and vowed decisive confrontation against any ground invasion, ensuring “not even a single invader should remain alive.” This resolute stance underscores Iran’s commitment to defending its sovereignty and supporting its allies.

Global Economic Repercussions of Imperialist Aggression

The G7 nations, along with international financial bodies, have expressed urgency in limiting the global economic cost of a long-term war in the Middle East, a conflict largely fueled by imperialist designs and Zionist expansionism. Warnings from the International Monetary Fund and the International Energy Agency about potential global recession, inflation, and critical fuel shortages, particularly in Europe, underscore the far-reaching consequences of this aggression. The disruption to vital shipping routes like the Strait of Hormuz, a key artery for global oil supplies, has already led to chaotic fuel shortages in countries like Mozambique, impacting the cost of living for vulnerable populations.

Despite these warnings, the US has continued its oppressive blockade of Iranian ports, a move condemned by Iran’s Vice President Mohammad Reza Aref, who stated that the US has effectively become the Zionist entity’s “seventh province,” lacking independence and strategy. China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi stressed the importance of resuming trade through the Strait of Hormuz, advocating for respect of Iran’s sovereignty while ensuring freedom of navigation.

A Call for Lasting Peace and Justice

Pope Leo XIV, in a powerful message from Cameroon, assailed the “handful of tyrants” ravaging the world, condemning those who “manipulate religion and the very name of God for their own military, economic and political gain.” This resonates deeply with the plight of the oppressed in the region, calling for true peacemakers and an end to exploitation.

While the temporary ceasefire offers a glimmer of hope, the path to a lasting and just peace requires addressing the root causes of the conflict: the ongoing occupation, the illegitimate demands, and the relentless aggression against sovereign nations and their people. The Resistance remains vigilant, ready to defend its people and territory until true justice and stability are achieved.
