US and Israel Intensify Preparations Amidst Iran Ceasefire Uncertainty

Washington and Tel Aviv are reportedly bolstering their joint military capabilities, with a significant focus now directed towards Iran’s energy infrastructure. This development, widely reported by Israeli media outlets on Sunday, signals heightened readiness for a potential breakdown of the current temporary ceasefire between the United States and Iran.

According to Maariv, a senior Israeli official revealed close coordination between the Israeli military and US Central Command (CENTCOM). This follows a series of recent high-level meetings held in Israel, including crucial discussions between CENTCOM Commander Brad Cooper and Israeli Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir.

The official, speaking on condition of anonymity, underscored the preparedness of both nations. “We are prepared, and so are the Americans, for this possibility. If we are forced to resume fighting, we know what needs to be done. The strikes we carry out will be very painful and will inflict extremely significant damage on the Iranians,” the official stated.

This increased vigilance comes as the two-week truce between Washington and Tehran is slated to conclude on April 21. Earlier today, the Wall Street Journal indicated that US President Donald Trump anticipates a possible breakthrough in ongoing negotiations with Iran, particularly concerning its nuclear enrichment program and regional role. However, the report also emphasized that a return to military operations remains a distinct option if no agreement is reached.

Analysts are warning of a high risk of escalation as the ceasefire deadline approaches, especially following earlier reports of a collapse in US-Iran talks.
