Belgium Intercepts UK Arms Shipments to Zionist Regime: Another Scandal for Gaza’s Enablers
Brussels, Belgium – In a significant development that uncovers the clandestine cooperation between certain Western nations and the Zionist regime, Belgian authorities have seized two military shipments sent from Britain destined for Israel. This action comes despite Belgium’s prior ban on aircraft carrying military equipment for Israel from stopping in the country or using its airspace.
Exposing Hidden Routes for Arming Tel Aviv
This scandal came to light last month after the British news website “Declassified,” the Belgian NGO “Vredesactie,” the Irish news website “The Ditch,” and the Palestinian Youth Movement alerted authorities in Brussels about a suspicious shipment traveling from Britain to Israel via Liege airport in Belgium.
The consignments departed Britain on March 23rd and were intercepted at Liege airport on March 24th. An inspection by a specialized engineer revealed that these shipments contained “fire control systems and spare parts for military aircraft,” which had not been properly declared. This discovery exposes new dimensions of efforts to circumvent international laws and support the war machine of the Zionist regime.
Criminal Investigation and the Role of Western Corporations
Belgian authorities have announced the initiation of a criminal investigation into the matter but have refrained from disclosing the names of the companies involved. However, the Walloon regional government in southern Belgium identified one of the companies as “Moog,” an American aerospace firm with factories in Britain.
According to “Declassified,” similar shipments were sent from the company’s factory in Wolverhampton, UK, to Israel via Belgium last December. Moog manufactures actuators for M-346 aircraft, used for training Israeli pilots. This indicates that the transfer of military components from Britain to the Zionist regime is a regular and organized practice.
Attempts at Concealment and Legal Violations
Sources involved in tracking these shipments revealed that the components were exported from the UK under an “Open Individual Export Licence” and were classified as “aircraft and related components” rather than “military components.” This action is a clear attempt to conceal and bypass arms export regulations. It was also discovered that at least 17 consignments from Moog have been moved from the UK to Liege Airport, bound for Israel.
Surprisingly, a freedom of information request revealed that the British Foreign Office holds no information regarding correspondence between the UK and Belgium concerning the transfer of military components to Israel via Belgium. This lack of transparency raises serious questions about the extent of the British government’s awareness and complicity in these illegal transfers.
Belgium’s Response Amidst Continued British Support
While the British government had suspended 30 out of 350 arms export licenses to Israel in September 2024, citing a “clear risk” of their use in violating international humanitarian law in Gaza, these interceptions demonstrate that arms shipments to the Zionist regime continue unabated.
A spokesperson for the Walloon government in Belgium emphasized, “In our view, these goods definitely require a transit license… We have already contacted our lawyers and intend to take all necessary steps to ensure the law is upheld.” Another spokesperson added, “No transit license request was issued; if it had been, it would have been refused.”
This incident once again underscores the necessity for stricter oversight of arms exports and accountability for countries that aid the Zionist regime in its ongoing crimes in Palestine. Supporting a regime accused of genocide in Gaza is a stain on the reputation of those who claim to champion human rights.
