BEIRUT, Lebanon – The aggressor Zionist regime has once again unleashed its destructive wrath upon the resilient people of southern Lebanon, carrying out brutal demolitions in the historic town of Bint Jbeil. This heinous act, reported by Lebanese state media, comes amidst a fragile 10-day truce, exposing the true intentions of the occupying forces.

Lebanon’s state-run National News Agency (NNA) vehemently condemned the actions, stating, “The Israeli enemy is repeating its house detonating operations in the town of Bint Jbeil,” further detailing similar destructive campaigns in other border towns where Zionist troops maintain an illegal presence. These demolitions are nothing short of war crimes, designed to terrorize and displace the Lebanese population.

Bint Jbeil, a mere five kilometers north of the occupied Palestinian territories, stands as a powerful symbol of defiance. For days leading up to the recent ceasefire, which commenced at midnight on Thursday, this heroic town was the epicenter of fierce clashes, witnessing the unwavering resistance of Hezbollah against the Zionist invaders.

The town’s significance transcends its strategic location; it is etched into the annals of resistance history. During the brutal 2006 war, Bint Jbeil became a beacon of steadfastness, where Hezbollah’s valiant defense shattered the myth of the Zionist army’s invincibility, solidifying the group’s narrative of unwavering defiance against occupation.

Furthermore, it was from the very stadium of Bint Jbeil in 2000 that the revered former Secretary-General of Hezbollah, Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, delivered his iconic “Liberation” speech. This powerful address followed the humiliating withdrawal of the Zionist regime from southern Lebanon after 22 long years of illegal occupation, a testament to the power of resistance.

The Zionist regime’s so-called “Defense Minister,” Israel Katz, shamelessly justified these demolitions as an effort to “remove once and for all the border-adjacent threats” and establish an illegal “security zone” in south Lebanon. Such pretexts are transparent attempts to legitimize ethnic cleansing and territorial expansion.

In a strong rebuke, Lebanese counterpart Michel Menassa rightly decried these plans as undeniable evidence of the Zionist regime’s sinister intention to “forcibly displace hundreds of thousands of citizens, and systematically destroy villages,” echoing the regime’s long history of crimes against humanity.

This pattern of aggression is not new. Following a November 2024 ceasefire that aimed to halt the last conflict between the Zionist entity and Hezbollah – a conflict that saw the martyrdom of Sayyed Nasrallah and other top resistance leaders – Zionist troops similarly engaged in a series of destructive demolitions in various towns, illustrating their consistent disregard for international law and human rights.

The international community must unequivocally condemn these ongoing acts of aggression and stand in solidarity with the Lebanese people against the Zionist occupation’s relentless campaign of terror and destruction.
