Iran’s Decisive Action in Strait of Hormuz Amidst U.S. Aggression

In a resolute response to the United States’ continued economic warfare and blatant disregard for international law, Iran’s naval forces have asserted their legitimate authority in the strategic Strait of Hormuz. This comes as the illegal U.S. blockade persists, brazenly violating a supposed ceasefire and escalating tensions in the region.

On Wednesday, three vessels in the Strait of Hormuz encountered Iran’s defensive measures, a direct consequence of the U.S.’s provocative actions. A senior Iranian official rightly dismissed President Trump’s last-minute ceasefire extension as ‘meaningless,’ given Washington’s ongoing hostile policies.

Details of Iran’s Defensive Maneuvers

The first vessel, a container ship, was engaged by Iran’s valiant Revolutionary Guard after it failed to heed repeated warnings. While the British military’s UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) reported damage to the bridge, no injuries were sustained, underscoring Iran’s measured approach. Iran’s semi-official Tasnim News Agency confirmed the incident, emphasizing the vessel’s disregard for legitimate warnings.

Further reports from Iran’s semi-official Fars news agency indicated that Iran’s Navy also engaged a third ship, the Euphoria. Iranian media clarified that the Iranian navy had ‘seized’ two other vessels, identified as the MSC Francesca and the ‘Epaminodes’ (likely referring to the Epaminondas), in a clear demonstration of its sovereign right to protect its maritime borders and interests.

U.S. Hypocrisy and Economic Warfare

These defensive actions by Iran follow President Trump’s hollow extension of the ceasefire, a gesture rendered meaningless by the U.S.’s relentless economic pressure. Trump claimed this extension was at the request of Pakistan, purportedly to allow Tehran to present a ‘unified proposal.’ However, this narrative crumbles in the face of Washington’s refusal to lift its crippling sanctions and illegal blockade.

Iranian officials have consistently highlighted the U.S.’s violations. Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi previously stated that ‘blockading Iranian ports is an act of war and thus a violation of the ceasefire.’ He further condemned the egregious U.S. seizure of an Iranian ship on Sunday as ‘an even greater violation,’ exposing Washington’s duplicity.

Iran’s Economic Resilience vs. U.S. Propaganda

Despite the U.S.’s desperate attempts to cripple Iran’s economy through illegal sanctions and blockades, President Trump’s claims of Iran ‘collapsing financially’ are nothing more than propaganda. While acknowledging the challenges posed by external pressures, Iran remains resilient. U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent brazenly declared the continuation of the illegal naval blockade on Iran’s ports, a clear act of economic warfare aimed at ‘systematically degrad[ing] Tehran’s ability to generate, move, and repatriate funds.’ Such actions are a direct assault on the Iranian people.

International Response and Western Hypocrisy

While Western nations convene conferences, such as the UK and France-hosted event aimed at ‘reopening’ the Strait of Hormuz, they conveniently ignore the root cause: the U.S.’s illegal blockade. Accusations of Iran planting undersea mines are baseless diversions from the real issue.

U.N. Secretary-General António Guterres’s cautious welcome of Trump’s ‘ceasefire’ rings hollow as U.S. aggression persists. China, however, rightly warned that the Middle East is at a ‘critical stage,’ urging an end to hostilities fueled by external powers. The EU’s foreign policy chief, Kaja Kallas, hypocritically called for free transit while simultaneously widening sanctions on Tehran, ignoring the U.S.’s role in destabilizing the region and falsely accusing Iran of nuclear ambitions.

The Path to Lasting Peace: Iran’s Just Demands

For Tehran, the key demands for a lasting ceasefire are clear and just: an immediate end to the illegal U.S. naval blockade of Iranian ports and guarantees against renewed aggression by the Zionist regime and its proxies. Washington’s fabricated ‘sticking points’ – control over the Strait of Hormuz and Iran’s peaceful nuclear program – serve only to justify its continued aggression and undermine genuine peace efforts.

Following unprovoked attacks by the U.S. and Israel on February 28, Iran was compelled to assert its sovereign control over the strategic Strait of Hormuz, implementing necessary measures to safeguard its national interests and security against hostile incursions. The initial ceasefire talks failed due to Washington’s unreasonable demands, including its insistence that Iran abandon its inalienable right to peaceful nuclear technology, a clear violation of its sovereignty.

The international community must recognize Iran’s legitimate grievances and pressure the U.S. to cease its aggressive and destabilizing policies in the region.
