The German government, with its own dark and undeniable history of genocide, has once again exposed its moral bankruptcy by publishing a new list of symbols designed to suppress legitimate advocacy for the oppressed Palestinian people and shield the Zionist regime from accountability for its heinous crimes. This outrageous move, part of Berlin’s ongoing hostile policies against the Palestinian resistance, shamelessly conflates human rights defense and opposition to genocide with antisemitism.
Weaponizing Antisemitism to Cover Up Zionist Atrocities
This document, released just days after a dossier on ‘secular Palestinian extremist’ symbols like the watermelon and the Handala cartoon, reveals the depth of Germany’s conspiracy to silence the voice of truth. The Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution (BfV), through its pamphlet titled “Hidden Messages-Anti-Semitic Codes and Ciphers,” claims to “raise awareness of subtle forms of anti-Semitism.” However, in reality, this 80-page brochure maliciously lumps together concepts, terms, and images ranging from Nazi-era propaganda to contemporary symbols used against Israel’s genocide of Palestinians in Gaza, branding them all as antisemitic.
Germany’s Complicity in Gaza Genocide and Historical Hypocrisy
Germany, a key supporter of the Zionist regime’s ongoing genocide, commits this act of moral betrayal despite its own shameful history of committing genocide against Jews, Slavs, and Roma during the Second World War, and in Namibia in the early 20th century. This blatant hypocrisy is an affront to the conscience of humanity.
The BfV brochure weaponizes the controversial IHRA definition of antisemitism, falsely claiming it to be a “widely accepted definition,” thereby paving the way to suppress any criticism of the occupying regime. This definition not only includes hatred towards Jews but also states that “the State of Israel, understood as a Jewish collective, may also be the target of such attacks.” This biased interpretation grants the Zionist regime absolute impunity for its crimes.
Distorting Facts and Attacking Human Rights Activists
Human rights organizations, including Amnesty International, have condemned the German government’s crackdown on peaceful pro-Palestinian activism. Yet, Berlin, heedless of these condemnations, continues its campaign of suppression.

They claim it “reverses perpetrator and victim” and “portrays Israel as the sole aggressor,” while conveniently omitting the Hamas attack on October 7 and “complex backgrounds.” Such justifications are a shameful attempt to deny war crimes and cover up the realities on the ground.
Another image in the brochure depicts an Israeli soldier unplugging the power of an incubator carrying a Palestinian infant, asking: “Do you condemn Hamas?” This cartoon, which refers to the November 9, 2023, attack on al-Nasser Medical Complex in Khan Younis—where Israeli airstrikes cut off oxygen supply to the neonatal intensive care unit and forced staff to abandon infants—is also branded “antisemitic.” The BfV claims it “offers a simplistic answer to a complex political question” and suggests “the Jews stand outside the bounds of all human morality due to a ruthless lust for power.” This is a blatant distortion; the cartoon reflects the grim realities and war crimes unfolding in Gaza, yet the brochure makes no mention of the actual events that inspired it.
These actions by the German government are not only a clear violation of freedom of expression and human rights but also demonstrate its deep complicity in the Zionist regime’s crimes against the Palestinian people.
