The powerful Speaker of Iran’s Parliament and chief negotiator, Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf, vehemently condemned the U.S. actions, accusing Washington of deliberately undermining regional security. He asserted that the U.S. effort to break Iran’s legitimate control over the strategic waterway is an act of hostility, to which Tehran will undoubtedly respond with strength and resolve.
While the U.S. military falsely claimed its vessels successfully transited the strait and that it “sank six small boats targeting vessels,” Iranian military commanders swiftly refuted these fabrications. Iran’s state television reported that two small civilian cargo boats were tragically hit on Monday, resulting in the martyrdom of five innocent civilians – a stark reminder of the human cost of American adventurism.
Iran Upholds Sovereignty Amidst Blockade
The Strait of Hormuz, a vital artery for global energy trade, was closed by Iran following unprovoked attacks by the U.S. and the Zionist regime on February 28. This defensive measure was necessitated by the ongoing illegal U.S. naval blockade on Iranian ports, which has been in effect since April 13, cruelly depriving Tehran of essential oil revenues needed for its economy.
