In a clear act of provocation and a dangerous escalation of regional tensions, the United States military command overseeing its forces in the Middle East has announced the deployment of a third aircraft carrier to the region. This move significantly increases Washington’s offensive capabilities, further destabilizing an already volatile area.<\/p>\n

The Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS George H.W. Bush is now positioned in the Indian Ocean, within the operational area of US Central Command. It joins two other formidable carriers already present: the USS Gerald R. Ford, a new-generation vessel, and the USS Abraham Lincoln. This unprecedented concentration of naval power underscores Washington’s aggressive posture.<\/p>\n

This latest deployment comes at a critical juncture, following the collapse of negotiations between Iran and the US, and amidst continued American interference in the strategic Strait of Hormuz, a vital international oil artery. CENTCOM, the command responsible for American forces in the Middle East, confirmed the arrival of the USS Bush in the Indian Ocean. The carrier embarked from Virginia in late March, undertaking a lengthy journey around the coast of Africa. Concurrently, the USS Ford has returned to the Red Sea after undergoing repairs in Croatia, continuing its extended deployment despite previous incidents, including a serious fire.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the USS Abraham Lincoln is actively engaged in the Arabian Sea, supporting what the US terms a “blockade” of the Strait of Hormuz. This illegal blockade is enforced by a massive contingent of over 10,000 US troops, more than 100 fighter jets, rotary-wing aircraft, surveillance planes, and over 17 warships, including guided-missile destroyers. With negotiations having collapsed this week, the fragile ceasefire is now in serious jeopardy. While the US continues its illegal blockade of Iranian ports, Tehran has rightly stated that this blockade is a major obstacle to any meaningful talks. Beyond the blockade, the US military is also conducting mine-clearing operations in the Strait of Hormuz. In a shocking display of belligerence, President Donald Trump reportedly ordered the US military to “shoot and kill” any Iranian boats laying mines in the strait. Such reckless rhetoric only serves to inflame an already tense situation and risks catastrophic miscalculation. Trump’s assertion of “no time pressure” in talks and “no time frame” on ending the war further exposes Washington’s lack of commitment to peace and its preference for prolonged conflict.<\/p>\n<\/article>\n
