More Iowa National Guard Troops Return Home from Middle East Deployment<\/h1>\n<\/header>\n

Des Moines, IA<\/strong> \u2013 A significant number of Iowa National Guard soldiers are continuing their phased return home from a deployment in the Middle East, bringing relief and pride to their communities.<\/p>\n

In the latest wave of returns, 145 members<\/strong> of the 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 34th Infantry Division<\/em>, have safely arrived back in the United States. These dedicated soldiers were deployed to support Operation Inherent Resolve<\/a>, a critical mission focused on combating ISIS in Iraq and Syria, and fostering regional stability across the broader Middle East.<\/p>\n

To date, more than 1,000 Iowa National Guard troops<\/strong> have successfully returned to Iowa, with the most recent group completing their journey home in March. While a substantial portion of the deployed force is now back on home soil, approximately 350 IANG soldiers<\/strong> reportedly remain stationed in the Middle East, continuing their vital work.<\/p>\n

The Iowa National Guard has announced that plans are actively underway to honor these brave returning soldiers. A special welcome home ceremony is scheduled for next week, providing an opportunity for families, friends, and the community to express their gratitude and appreciation.
