Oil prices saw a rise on Thursday after U.S. officials informed Fox News that Washington had conducted multiple defensive strikes in the region near the Strait of Hormuz, an operation described as an effort to maintain the ceasefire. Brent crude futures, the international benchmark, increased to approximately $96.20 per barrel, up roughly 1.27%, according to CNBC data. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) futures also gained 1.16%, reaching $90.64 per barrel from about $89.60 earlier in the session.<\/p>\n

US denies claim of plane shot down
\nAt 6:22 a.m. ET, the United States Central Command (CENTCOM) denied claims that an aircraft was shot down by Iranian forces. Iran’s state TV had asserted that Iranian forces downed a U.S. aircraft near Bushehr. However, CENTCOM countered this in a social media post, stating it was false, no U.S. aircraft were shot down, and all air assets were accounted for.<\/p>\n
