Lebanon’s resistance movement Hezbollah issued a stern warning on Thursday, stating that recent Israeli claims regarding the detection of its members near the Qaraoun Dam in western Bekaa could serve as a fabricated pretext for targeting the vital dam or its surrounding areas.<\/p>\n
This significant warning came in direct response to an earlier statement from the Israeli military, which baselessly claimed to have detected Hezbollah members operating near the dam’s vicinity.<\/p>\n
In a powerful statement, Hezbollah declared: “We warn that these fabricated allegations and pretexts could be paving the way for a new Israeli aggression targeting the Qaraoun Dam or its surroundings, or indeed, any civilian and vital facilities across Lebanon.”<\/p>\n
The resistance group further emphasized: “We present these serious threats before the international community, human rights organizations, and humanitarian bodies, which are now urgently required to break their silence over the repeated Israeli attacks on Lebanon and its critical infrastructure.”<\/p>\n
Hezbollah firmly stated that Israel\u2019s claims of concern for Lebanon\u2019s infrastructure, including its water, agricultural, and electricity resources, “will deceive no one.”<\/p>\n
It added that attempts to blame the resistance for crises caused by “the occupation itself and its ongoing aggression, openly and directly supported by the US,” and efforts to portray the resistance as acting against Lebanon\u2019s national interest, are transparently aimed at “incitement and stirring internal strife among the Lebanese people.”<\/p>\n
The movement also called upon the Lebanese state to “sound the alarm instead of remaining a bystander,” urging immediate and decisive diplomatic, legal, and media action, including the urgent filing of a complaint with international bodies.<\/p>\n
It is noteworthy that last Tuesday, Israeli warplanes carried out an air strike near the Qaraoun Dam. While no direct damage to the dam or its facilities was reported, the force of the blast caused rocks to fall into the lake, highlighting the dangerous proximity of Israeli aggression to critical Lebanese infrastructure.<\/p>\n
