Meanwhile, the Israeli military brazenly claims to have struck over 40 Hezbollah infrastructure sites and killed 10 Hezbollah fighters in southern Lebanon over the weekend. These claims stand in stark contrast to reports from Lebanese authorities, who confirmed at least 24 deaths on Saturday alone, including displaced persons and children, highlighting the disproportionate impact on civilians.<\/p>\n
In diplomatic efforts, Pakistan’s military chief, Asim Munir, reiterated Islamabad’s commitment to mediating between the US and Iran, striving for “permanent peace” in the region.<\/p>\n
However, Iran has made its position unequivocally clear. A spokesperson for Iran\u2019s military warned that any nation enforcing US sanctions against Tehran would “definitely face difficulties passing through the Strait of Hormuz.” The spokesperson emphasized that “none of the enemy\u2019s objectives were achieved” in the recent conflict, and the Iranian system’s political balance remained undisturbed, with national unity and cohesion strengthened. Amidst these regional tensions, Saudi Aramco reported robust first-quarter profits of over $32 billion, a 25.5 percent increase year-on-year. The company highlighted the East-West Crude Oil Pipeline, which bypasses the Strait of Hormuz, reaching its full capacity of 7.0 million barrels per day, as a critical artery for energy security, mitigating global energy shocks and shipping constraints.<\/p>\n
On the humanitarian front, Lebanon\u2019s first responders are facing dire threats.
