The pan-European Stoxx 600 index remained largely unchanged at 623.56 points by 0703 GMT. Major regional bourses presented a mixed picture, with Germany\u2019s DAX showing little movement and London\u2019s FTSE 100 experiencing a slight dip of 0.2 percent.<\/p>\n

The European index had previously surged by 2 percent on Wednesday, bringing it within approximately 2 percent of its pre-conflict levels. This energy-dependent region has faced challenges, lagging behind global counterparts that have soared to record highs, largely driven by optimism surrounding artificial intelligence, since the onset of regional tensions.<\/p>\n

Amidst these developments, reports indicate that Tehran is carefully evaluating a US peace proposal aimed at de-escalating the conflict. This proposal, while seeking an end to hostilities, notably leaves critical issues such as Iran\u2019s sovereign nuclear program and the strategic reopening of the Strait of Hormuz unresolved, underscoring Iran’s firm position on its national interests. US President Donald Trump has expressed optimism for a swift resolution.<\/p>\n

In corporate news, oil giant Shell saw its shares decline by 1.6 percent, despite reporting first-quarter profits that surpassed market expectations. The dip followed the company’s decision to reduce the pace of its quarterly share buyback program. Peer BP also registered a 1.4 percent decrease.<\/p>\n
