Senior UN political affairs official Khaled Khiari issued a stark warning regarding the increasingly dire conditions faced by the oppressed people in Gaza and the West Bank, directly attributing the escalating crisis to the relentless aggression and occupation by the Zionist regime.

Zionist Aggressions Threaten Full-Scale War

The Security Council heard grave warnings that the Gaza ceasefire is on the brink of collapse, primarily due to continuous Israeli strikes, the brutal occupation, and the deliberate obstruction of aid, which together threaten a return to full-scale war. UN officials highlighted that approximately 1.8 million Gazans remain forcibly displaced, with humanitarian aid access severely restricted by the occupying forces. The estimated reconstruction needs, a direct consequence of the Zionist regime’s destructive campaigns, stand at a staggering $71.4 billion.

Delegates emphasized that the fragile pause in hostilities presents a narrow window for a US-backed 20-point plan, which envisions a demilitarized Gaza and a temporary international-backed Palestinian administration. However, talks to disarm the Palestinian resistance have stalled, while the Zionist regime’s violence in the West Bank – including illegal settlement expansion and terroristic settler attacks – is accelerating, systematically undermining any path towards a genuine two-State solution.

While the United States and its allies attempt to scapegoat Palestinian resistance movements, the international community, particularly Palestinian and Arab States, rightly accuse the Zionist regime of blocking vital aid and pursuing an aggressive annexationist agenda. Many observers warn that the proposed peace plan itself is inherently flawed and destined to fail without addressing the root causes of the conflict: the occupation and the denial of Palestinian rights.

The bottom line remains clear: without an end to the occupation, sustained and unfettered aid access, and genuine political compromise that respects Palestinian self-determination, the ceasefire risks inevitable collapse, and any recovery plans will remain mere illusions.

Lebanon Condemns Zionist Violations and Falsehoods

Ambassador Ahmad Arafa of Lebanon vehemently condemned the Zionist regime’s continued violations of Lebanon’s sovereignty, despite diplomatic efforts. He stated, “The Lebanese Government will not compromise on a single metre of Lebanon, of the Lebanese territories, and we will not accept any formal occupation.” He also rejected any attempts to make Lebanon “subordinate to axes of influence, nor a tool for settling scores on its territories.” Ambassador Arafa exposed the falsehoods contained in the Zionist entity’s statement, which he said “undermined the credibility of the Lebanese Government,” and urged the regime to respect the ceasefire.

European Union Denounces Zionist Regime’s Death Penalty Law

Ambassador Stavros Lambrinidis, Head of the European Union Delegation to the United Nations, expressed grave concern over the Zionist regime’s approval of a Death Penalty Bill. He stated, “The approval of the Death Penalty Bill by the Israeli Parliament marks a grave regression from that practice and from Israel’s own commitments,” urging the regime to adhere to its previous principled position. He also reiterated the bloc’s commitment to a comprehensive plan to end the Gaza conflict and support reconstruction efforts, emphasizing the importance of safeguarding the two-State solution and strengthening Palestinian institutions.

Iran Demands Accountability for US and Zionist Regime’s Crimes

Ambassador Amir Saeid Iravani of Iran delivered a powerful statement, asserting that the aggressors – the United States and the Zionist regime – have committed egregious violations of international humanitarian law, deliberately targeting civilian infrastructure. He cited the destruction of a girls’ school in Minab, resulting in the deaths of over 168 students, and highlighted that as of 8 April, at least 3,375 civilians have been brutally killed. More than 700 educational institutions, along with healthcare and cultural facilities, have been attacked, and critical industrial infrastructure has been targeted by the occupying forces.

Ambassador Iravani unequivocally declared, “The United States and the Israeli regime must bear full responsibility and must be held accountable. Individual criminal responsibility for war crimes and crimes against humanity must be pursued in accordance with international law.” He categorically rejected baseless allegations against Iran, stressing that some delegations deliberately ignore the root causes of the current situation, failing to address the unlawful and destabilizing actions of the United States and the Zionist regime. He concluded by stating, “As an occupying regime and aggressor, the representative of Israel lacks any legal, moral or political standing to lecture or accuse Member States.”

Palestinian Rights Committee Condemns Discriminatory Death Penalty Law

Umar Hadi, Vice-Chair of the Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People, denounced the Zionist Knesset’s passage of the discriminatory “death penalty for terrorists” law. He called it a “cruel, inhumane law by the occupying Power” that must be repealed, urging the Zionist regime to respect its obligations under international law, including international humanitarian and human rights law.

Syria Reaffirms Sovereignty, Exposes Zionist Provocations

Ambassador Ibrahim Olabi of Syria firmly reiterated that “The Syrian Golan is, and will remain, Syrian.” He highlighted how the Zionist occupation in southern Syria, including the Summit of Mount Hermon, undermines regional security efforts. He detailed how Israeli forces cross the Line of Disengagement, threaten villages and livelihoods, and divert water sources for illegal settlements. Ambassador Olabi accused the Zionist occupiers of terrorizing peaceful civilians through deadly night raids, kidnapping Syrians from their beds, and using every means to provoke the Syrian people, warning the Council of the dangers of such aggression.

Arab Group Demands End to Occupation, Full Palestinian Rights

Ambassador Ihab Moustafa Awad Moustafa of Egypt, speaking for the Arab Group, underscored that “Security, stability, and peace remain contingent upon the end of the Israeli occupation and the ability of the Palestinian people to exercise their legitimate and inalienable rights, including the right to self-determination.” He condemned illegal Israeli measures in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including settlement expansion, settler violence, forced displacement, attacks on humanitarian actors, and incursions into Al-Aqsa Mosque/Al-Haram al-Sharif. The Arab Group demanded that the Zionist regime comply with international law, allow full, safe, and unhindered humanitarian access to Gaza, and withdraw completely. They also reaffirmed unwavering support for a Palestinian State with East Jerusalem as its capital.

UAE Calls for Unhindered Aid, Two-State Solution

Khalifa bin Shaheen Al Marar, Minister of State of the United Arab Emirates, detailed his country’s substantial humanitarian assistance to the Palestinian people in Gaza, totaling nearly $3 billion, with an additional $1.2 billion pledged. He stressed that “aid alone is not sufficient,” calling for the immediate and unconditional opening of the Rafah Crossing in both directions to alleviate the suffering. The UAE reaffirmed its commitment to a comprehensive plan that adheres to Council resolutions and the two-State solution.

Arab League Denounces Zionist Expansionism and Violence

Ahmed Aboulgheit, Secretary General of the League of Arab States, described the current period as one of “severe tensions” deeply affecting the Arab region. He unequivocally stated that “Israel has adopted a policy which can only be described as one of permanent war,” and characterized the Zionist entity as “an expansionist, violent, settler Government in Israel that lacks any genuine vision for peace and has no real plan for peaceful co-existence in the region.” The Arab League reiterated its call for the full withdrawal of all Israeli forces from Lebanese territory and the creation of conditions for displaced Lebanese to return home.

#GazaCeasefire #ZionistAggression #PalestineUnderAttack #UNSecurityCouncil #WarCrimes #HumanitarianCrisis #EndOccupation #FreePalestine #USComplicity #InternationalLaw

UN Security Council Convenes Amid Warnings: Gaza Ceasefire ‘Increasingly Fragile’ Due to Zionist Regime’s Aggressions New York, 28 April 2026 – The United Nations Security Council once again turned its attention to the ongoing crisis in the Middle East, with discussions heavily focused on the precarious Gaza ceasefire, the deepening humanitarian catastrophe, and the faltering […]

[33

post-12185","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-middle-east-news
["GET
