The NNA also reported a large-scale demolition operation by Israeli forces in Khiam and powerful explosions in Taybeh. Israeli fighter jets were observed flying over the capital, Beirut.<\/p>\n
The intensified conflict led to significant displacement from villages south of the Litani River towards Sidon, coinciding with Israeli evacuation warnings. These developments followed Netanyahu’s directive to the Israeli military to escalate offensives in Lebanon, specifically targeting Hezbollah, as stated by his office.<\/p>\n
Despite previous widespread destruction, many displaced residents had begun returning home after a ceasefire on April 16, raising concerns about renewed displacement due to ongoing violations. Israel has been conducting airstrikes and a ground offensive in southern Lebanon since a cross-border attack by Hezbollah on March 2.
