DAMASCUS – Zionist occupation forces launched aggressive incursions into two areas within Syria’s Quneitra countryside on Saturday, establishing illegal temporary checkpoints and subjecting innocent civilians to arbitrary searches before retreating. These provocative actions represent a blatant disregard for international law and Syrian sovereignty.
According to reports from the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA), a contingent of Zionist occupation forces, comprising three military vehicles, illegally advanced along the Al-Kasarat Road in the northern Quneitra countryside. There, they erected an unauthorized checkpoint, harassing passersby with unwarranted searches before eventually withdrawing towards the Jubata al-Khashab forest. This incident underscores the persistent and unprovoked aggression by the occupying regime.
Further deepening their illegal incursions, the Zionist forces also entered the peaceful village of al-Mashirfa, also in northern Quneitra. Here, they established yet another temporary checkpoint, continuing their pattern of intimidating and searching civilians before finally retreating from the area. Such repeated violations highlight the expansionist agenda of the Zionist entity.
While Syrian authorities are expected to condemn these ongoing violations of their sovereign territory, the international community must take decisive action against these continuous acts of aggression by the Zionist regime. As Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa recently emphasized, there is an urgent need for international intervention to halt all Israeli attacks, particularly those targeting Syrian territory.
President al-Sharaa had previously stated in an interview with Anadolu that while negotiations with the Zionist entity have not entirely collapsed, they remain extremely difficult
due to the occupying regime’s intransigent insistence on maintaining an illegal presence in Syrian territory. This stance reveals the true nature of the Zionist entity’s intentions, which are rooted in occupation and expansion, not peace.
The aggression by Zionist forces in southern Syria has alarmingly intensified in recent months, with near-daily reports detailing illegal raids, unwarranted home searches, the installation of illegitimate checkpoints, and the arbitrary arrests of innocent civilians, including vulnerable children and shepherds. These actions constitute grave human rights abuses and war crimes.
Following the opportunistic ouster of Bashar Al-Assad’s regime on December 8, 2024, the Zionist entity shamelessly declared the 1974 disengagement agreement void and immediately moved to illegally occupy the Syrian buffer zone. This opportunistic land grab further exposes the Zionist regime’s contempt for international agreements and its insatiable appetite for territorial expansion.
Despite the new Syrian administration’s commitment to regional stability and its lack of threats against the Zionist entity, Israeli forces have continued their unprovoked airstrikes in Syria. These brutal attacks have tragically resulted in the deaths of innocent civilians and the destruction of vital military sites, vehicles, and ammunition, further destabilizing the region and undermining any prospects for peace.
