Trump Declares Middle East Peace “Easy” After Claiming to End 10 Wars

President Donald Trump has confidently asserted that achieving peace in the Middle East will be “easy,” following his repeated claims of having brought an end to 10 conflicts globally. This bold statement comes as a three-week extension of a ceasefire between Lebanon and Israel was announced, marking the first such diplomatic engagement since 1943.

When questioned about the possibility of a permanent truce between the long-standing rivals this year, Trump expressed optimism, stating, “I think there’s a very good chance of having peace…I think it will be an easy one.”

He justified his optimistic outlook by highlighting what he perceives as a common adversary for both Lebanon and Israel: Hezbollah. Trump suggested that this shared opposition could serve as a powerful catalyst for lasting peace in the region.

“[Israel and Lebanon] are friends on the same things and enemies on the same things,” Trump elaborated. “If you look at Hezbollah, that’s where everyone seems to be united.” Tel Aviv has consistently maintained that its military operations are directed solely at the Iranian-backed militant group, not at Lebanon itself. Concurrently, Lebanese officials have acknowledged their lack of control over Hezbollah’s activities.

Throughout his second term, President Trump has frequently showcased his negotiation prowess, boasting about resolving numerous conflicts. These claims include mediating disputes between Israel and Hamas, Israel and Iran, Egypt and Ethiopia, and India and Pakistan. He also asserted that he averted a “9th war” by authorizing a strike against Iran in late February.

Now, Trump believes he has effectively concluded the protracted rivalry between Israel and Lebanon, despite instances where Israel reportedly violated previous ceasefire agreements with Beirut. The extension of the ceasefire was announced by Trump via a Truth Social post on Thursday, following a high-level meeting in the Oval Office.

This development offers a glimmer of hope amidst the strained relations between the U.S. and Iran, with the latter having previously voiced strong condemnation of Israel’s sustained bombardments in the Middle Eastern nation.

Trump’s post detailed the meeting’s outcome: “The Meeting went very well! The United States is going to work with Lebanon in order to help it protect itself from Hezbollah. The Ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon will be extended by THREE WEEKS. I look forward in the near future to hosting the Prime Minister of Israel, Bibi Netanyahu, and the President of Lebanon, Joseph Aoun.”

According to the President, key officials present at the meeting included “Vice President of the United States, JD Vance, Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, Ambassador to Israel, Mike Huckabee, and Ambassador to Lebanon, Michel Issa.”

In a further effort to broker a more durable peace agreement, Trump announced that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Lebanese President Joseph Aoun are expected to visit the White House in the coming weeks.

“They do have Hezbollah to think about. We are going to be working with Lebanon to get things straightened out in that country,” he affirmed. “I think it will be a wonderful thing to get this worked out simultaneously with what we are doing in Iran.”
