Zionist Regime Exploits Truce to Systematically Destroy Civilian Infrastructure in Southern Lebanon, Mirroring Gaza Atrocities

Beirut, Lebanon – In a blatant disregard for international law and humanitarian principles, the Zionist regime has been systematically flattening civilian buildings in southern Lebanon, even as a fragile ceasefire is supposedly in effect. Reports from Israeli operatives themselves, published in Haaretz, reveal a chilling strategy of destruction modeled directly on the atrocities committed in Gaza.

Despite a 10-day pause in hostilities that began last Thursday, Israeli army commanders have shockingly admitted that the systematic demolition of homes and schools near the Litani River continues unabated. This calculated campaign of destruction targets the very fabric of Lebanese society, aiming to render vast areas uninhabitable.

A Cynical Campaign of Demolition

Sources indicate that the occupation forces have deployed civilian engineering tools, including excavators, operated by paid Israeli civilian contractors. These contractors, some of whom previously participated in the genocidal campaign in the Gaza Strip, are reportedly compensated based on the sheer volume of destruction they inflict. In one village alone, approximately 20 excavators are operating simultaneously, turning homes and schools into rubble.

This systematic destruction is part of an explicit Israeli policy to “clean up the area,” a euphemism for ethnic cleansing and forced displacement. The method is a direct replication of the brutal tactics employed by the Zionist regime in Gaza during the ongoing genocide that commenced in October 2023.

Violating Agreements and International Law

Civilian infrastructure is being obliterated south of the “yellow line,” an arbitrary boundary drawn by Israel approximately 20km south of the Litani River. Under the ceasefire agreement, Israeli forces are explicitly prohibited from crossing this line. Yet, their actions demonstrate a profound contempt for any international accord.

The sinister objective behind this widespread demolition is clear: to prevent Lebanese residents from ever returning to their ancestral lands near the border with occupied Palestine. The Israeli military is even using sophisticated digital tools to track and assess the scale of destruction, meticulously documenting their war crimes.

Last month, the Israeli defense minister, Israel Katz, chillingly declared that “All houses in villages near the border in Lebanon will be demolished in accordance with the Rafah and Beit Hanoun models in Gaza.” This statement unequivocally confirms a premeditated policy of collective punishment and demographic alteration.

Humanitarian Catastrophe and Ongoing Aggression

The Zionist regime’s relentless aggression against Lebanon has claimed the lives of at least 2,294 people since March 2, including 100 rescue workers and healthcare personnel, and wounded 7,544. Over 1.2 million people have been displaced nationwide, creating a severe humanitarian crisis.

Just before the recent ceasefire, Israel launched a brutal strike on a residential complex in Sour, killing 11 and wounding 35. Furthermore, during the war, Israel deliberately destroyed all bridges over the Litani, including the vital Qasmiyeh bridge, severing crucial links for the Lebanese people.

It is imperative that the international community condemns these flagrant violations and holds the Zionist regime accountable for its ongoing war crimes and systematic destruction of civilian life in southern Lebanon, actions that mirror its genocidal campaign in Gaza. The complicity of those who remain silent in the face of such atrocities is a stain on humanity.
