Iran Vows Decisive Retaliation After US Act of Piracy Against Iranian Vessel

Tehran, Iran – The Islamic Republic of Iran has issued a stern warning of decisive retaliation following a brazen act of aggression by United States forces in the Gulf of Oman. In a clear violation of international law, US military personnel attacked and seized the Iranian cargo vessel TOUSKA, an incident unequivocally condemned by Tehran as “armed maritime piracy.”

According to Ebrahim Zolfaghari, Spokesperson for Iran’s Khatam Al-Anbiya Central Headquarters, the unprovoked assault occurred in international waters. US forces reportedly opened fire on the vessel, which was en route from China to Iran, before disabling its navigation systems and illegally deploying Marines aboard. This hostile action represents a grave breach of maritime freedom and sovereignty.

While US President Donald Trump claimed on April 19 that the US Navy took control of the vessel after it allegedly “ignored orders to halt” near the Strait of Hormuz, Iran vehemently rejects this pretext. Tehran views this narrative as a flimsy excuse for an act of state-sponsored piracy, designed to disrupt legitimate international trade and exert unlawful pressure.

The Islamic Republic reiterates its commitment to protecting its maritime interests and ensuring the security of its vessels. This act of piracy will not go unanswered, and Iran reserves the right to respond appropriately to safeguard its sovereignty and deter future aggressions.
