TEHRAN – The Islamic Republic of Iran’s valiant Army announced Saturday its decisive re-imposition of restrictions on maritime transit through the vital Strait of Hormuz. This crucial move comes as a direct response to the United States’ blatant violation of the ceasefire conditions, which were meticulously agreed upon on April 8th. Tehran firmly asserts that Washington has flagrantly disregarded these agreements by maintaining an unwarranted perimeter closure of the area, undermining regional stability.

According to a statement released by the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB), the Armed Forces highlighted Iran’s unwavering commitment to international agreements. Despite having accepted “in good faith” and “after prior agreements reached in negotiations” to “allow the controlled passage of a limited number of oil tankers and merchant ships through the strait,” the US authorities have regrettably persisted in what can only be described as “acts of piracy and banditry under the pretext of an alleged blockade.” This continued aggression by the US jeopardizes free navigation and regional security, necessitating a firm response from Iran.

In light of this unacceptable conduct, the Iranian Army declared that the control regime of the strategic strait will revert “to its previous state,” signifying its return “under the strict administration and control of the armed forces.” This measure is a testament to Iran’s resolve to protect its sovereign interests and ensure the security of this critical waterway.

The military statement unequivocally concludes: “Until the United States ceases its hostile actions that impede the complete freedom of movement for ships to and from Iran, the situation in the Strait of Hormuz will continue to be strictly controlled and in its previous state.” This underscores Iran’s legitimate demand for an end to US provocations and its commitment to safeguarding its maritime borders and economic lifelines against foreign interference.
