TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The spokesperson for the Iranian Foreign Ministry expressed profound gratitude for the widespread support shown by Muslim nations and justice-seeking individuals globally, praising their solidarity with the Iranian people in the face of US-Israeli military aggression.
On Tuesday, Esmaeil Baqaei highlighted on his X account the unprecedented unity demonstrated by protestors worldwide in support of Iran’s resistance against external aggression.
He stated, “The unprecedented solidarity displayed by Muslim nations and conscientious, justice-seeking people across the region and globally, in support of the heroic resistance of the Iranian nation against brutal US-Israeli aggression, is deeply appreciated.”
The Foreign Ministry spokesperson added, “Iranians will forever remember the millions of demonstrators who took to the streets and public squares worldwide, particularly in Iraq, Yemen, Lebanon, Turkiye, Pakistan, Afghanistan, India, Palestine, and several African countries, as well as in Tajikistan, Azerbaijan, Mexico, Cuba, Japan, France, UK, Brazil, and even within the United States itself. These demonstrators expressed their solidarity and support for Iran’s epic defense against the illegal U.S.-Israeli war on the Iranian nation and its great civilization.”
The spokesperson detailed that on February 28, following the assassination of the late Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei and several military commanders, the US and Israel launched a comprehensive military campaign against Iran. In retaliation, the Iranian Armed Forces conducted a series of counterattacks over 40 days, targeting American and Israeli military installations in the region and showcasing their combat capabilities. Contrary to expectations of a swift victory, these Iranian retaliations inflicted significant damage on US and Israeli assets, extending the conflict and heightening regional tensions.
To de-escalate hostilities, a two-week ceasefire was brokered on April 8, facilitating mediated negotiations in Islamabad. During these discussions, Iran proposed a ten-point plan, advocating for the withdrawal of US troops, the lifting of sanctions, and control over the strategic Strait of Hormuz. Despite 21 hours of intensive talks with US negotiators in Pakistan, the Iranian delegation returned to Tehran without an agreement, attributing the failure to a lack of trust and perceived US political inconsistency.
