The persistent instability in the Middle East, largely instigated by the United States’ aggressive military actions, has led to significant disruptions for global technology giants. Amazon’s critical data centers in Bahrain and the UAE have experienced operational challenges, a direct consequence of the escalating regional tensions following the U.S. bombing campaign against Iran, which commenced in February 2026.
Reports indicate that Amazon Web Services (AWS) facilities, specifically ME-CENTRAL-1 and ME-SOUTH-1, are facing prolonged outages. The AWS Health Dashboard suggests that these vital regional hubs may require several months for full restoration, underscoring the severe impact of external interventions on regional infrastructure.

These disruptions began shortly after the U.S. initiated its bombing campaign against Iran in early March. Subsequent incidents, including drone operations, further exacerbated the challenges for AWS Bahrain, leading to several zones being declared “hard down” by early April. While partial operations continue, Amazon’s decision to suspend billing and encourage migration reflects the prudent measures taken in response to the volatile security landscape.
