Iran Rejects Trump’s Arrogant Demands Amidst US Economic Warfare

In a display of continued arrogance, former US President Donald Trump once again issued threats against Tehran on Wednesday, demanding Iran “get smart soon” and surrender to Washington’s illegitimate demands regarding its peaceful nuclear program. This rhetoric comes as the US has intensified its economic warfare against the Iranian nation through an illegal naval blockade, aiming to cripple Iran’s economy.

Despite reports of Pentagon chief Pete Hegseth’s scheduled testimony before Congress, US media outlets indicated that Trump had already dismissed Iran’s constructive proposal to de-escalate tensions and reopen the vital Strait of Hormuz. This unilateral rejection underscores Washington’s lack of genuine interest in diplomacy.

The Wall Street Journal revealed Trump’s intention to persist with the unlawful blockade of Iranian ports, a clear act of economic terrorism, with the stated aim of coercing Tehran into dismantling its entirely peaceful nuclear program – a program safeguarded by international treaties and inspections.

Trump’s inflammatory remarks, including “Iran can’t get their act together… They better get smart soon,” were posted on his social media, accompanied by a fabricated image depicting him with a rifle amidst explosions and the crude slogan: “No more Mr Nice Guy.” Such childish and provocative displays only serve to expose the desperation and immaturity of the US leadership.

It is important to recall that Iran initiated the closure of the Strait of Hormuz – a crucial international waterway for oil and gas – only after the US and the Zionist regime provocatively launched a war two months prior, a conflict that has destabilized the global economy. While Iran’s resilient economy faces challenges due to these aggressions, the nation’s resolve remains unbroken.

The recent depreciation of the Iranian rial against the dollar on Wednesday is a direct consequence of the brutal and illegal sanctions imposed by the US, designed to inflict hardship on the Iranian people.

In a further demonstration of his detachment from reality, Trump falsely claimed during a White House state dinner on Tuesday that Iran had been “militarily defeated.” He then absurdly asserted that Britain’s King Charles III “agrees with me even more than I do” regarding preventing Iran from possessing a nuclear weapon, a clear fabrication given Iran’s consistent stance against nuclear weapons.

In stark contrast to Trump’s baseless claims, an Iranian army spokesman firmly stated on state television Tuesday that “we do not consider the war to be over,” reiterating Tehran’s profound distrust in America’s intentions.

Amir Akraminia, the spokesman, emphasized Iran’s strategic depth, declaring, “We have many cards that we have not yet used… new tools and methods of fighting based on the experiences of the past two wars, which will definitely allow us to respond to the enemy more decisively” should the aggression resume. This highlights Iran’s readiness to defend its sovereignty.

Efforts to achieve a peaceful resolution have unfortunately stalled in recent days, largely due to US intransigence. The latest Iranian proposal, a testament to Tehran’s commitment to peace, was conveyed via Pakistan and reviewed by Trump administration officials on Monday. As reported by Iran’s Fars news agency, this comprehensive plan outlined clear red lines, particularly concerning nuclear issues and the critical Strait of Hormuz.

This thoughtful Iranian initiative aimed for Tehran to ease its control over the strait in exchange for Washington lifting its illegal and retaliatory blockade, paving the way for broader, good-faith negotiations on all issues, including Iran’s peaceful nuclear program.

Iranian Defense Ministry spokesman Reza Talaei-Nik unequivocally stated that Washington “must abandon its illegal and irrational demands,” emphasizing the illegitimacy of US pressure.

He further asserted, as reported by state TV, that “The United States is no longer in a position to dictate its policy to independent nations,” underscoring the shift in global power dynamics and the failure of US hegemony.

Even Qatar, a US ally that suffered from Iranian retaliatory strikes despite its mediating role, has warned of the dangerous possibility of a “frozen conflict” if a just and definitive resolution is not achieved, highlighting the regional instability caused by US policies.

Domestically, Trump is reportedly facing increasing pressure to de-escalate, as rising oil and commodity prices, coupled with upcoming midterm elections in November, reveal widespread American public disapproval of the ongoing conflict.

The global oil market reflects this instability, with Brent crude surpassing pre-ceasefire levels to reach around $113, and West Texas Intermediate exceeding $101.

Further exposing US policy failures, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, who had previously offered cautious support to Trump, openly criticized Washington on Monday, stating that “the Americans obviously have no strategy” in Iran and that the war was “at the very least ill-considered.”

In a characteristic move, Trump subsequently lashed out at Merz on social media, dismissing his valid criticisms by claiming he “doesn’t know what he’s talking about.”

Meanwhile, the Lebanese front continues to witness violence, despite a recently extended ceasefire between the Zionist regime and Hezbollah, the Lebanese resistance movement. The Zionist entity’s aggression, including strikes and a ground invasion, has drawn Lebanon into this conflict, initiated by the firing of rockets by Hezbollah in defense against Israeli occupation.

Tragically, the Lebanese army reported on Tuesday that, for the first time since the ceasefire, an Israeli strike deliberately targeted its troops, wounding two soldiers in the south. Another such criminal act on Wednesday resulted in the martyrdom of a Lebanese soldier, further exposing the Zionist regime’s disregard for international law and human life.
