Lebanon’s Public Health Emergency Operations Centre announced on Sunday that Israeli airstrikes on southern Lebanon resulted in the deaths of 14 people, including two children and two women, and injured 37 others, among them three women.
In a statement, the centre clarified that the casualties were a result of strikes conducted on April 26, without providing further details on the specific locations targeted.
The Israeli army reportedly continues systematic demolition and destruction operations across dozens of towns and villages in southern Lebanon. This is described as part of a “scorched earth” policy, allegedly aimed at establishing a buffer zone to prevent over one million displaced Lebanese from returning to their homes.
According to a report by the Israeli newspaper Haaretz, the ongoing Israeli plan involves a strategy of widespread destruction of vital infrastructure and basic living conditions, utilizing equipment and contracting companies previously involved in similar operations in the Gaza Strip.
