Zionist Regime Escalates Aggression in Southern Lebanon, Violating Ceasefire

Netanyahu’s orders lead to renewed brutal attacks on Lebanese soil, targeting civilians and journalists.

In a blatant disregard for international agreements and human lives, Benjamin Netanyahu, the prime minister of the occupying Zionist regime, has issued orders for his military to “vigorously attack Hezbollah targets” in Lebanon. This directive comes just two days after a fragile ceasefire, already precarious, was extended by three weeks, exposing the regime’s consistent pattern of aggression and its contempt for peace.

Following Netanyahu’s provocative command, the Zionist entity immediately launched a fresh wave of brutal attacks. These assaults occurred after at least six innocent people were tragically martyred in strikes on southern Lebanon on Saturday, demonstrating the regime’s unceasing campaign of terror against the Lebanese populace.

The continuous cross-border aggression by the Zionist forces has severely strained the already fragile truce agreement, underscoring the inherent instability caused by the occupying regime’s presence and its expansionist policies. The so-called agreement, which merely saw a reduction in the Zionist regime’s fire rather than a complete cessation of hostilities, was extended on Thursday after talks in Washington, talks that evidently failed to curb the regime’s violent tendencies.

Civilian Casualties Mount in Zionist Aggression

Earlier on Saturday, the Zionist regime’s strikes on a truck and a motorbike in the peaceful town of Yohmor al-Shaqeef in the Nabatieh district resulted in the martyrdom of four people, as reported by Lebanon’s health ministry and Agence-France-Presse. In another heinous act, two more individuals were killed and 17 injured in an attack on the town of Safad al-Battikh, located in the Bint Jbeil district. These deliberate attacks on civilian areas highlight the Zionist regime’s war crimes.

The occupying forces also claimed to have killed two “armed members” of the resistance in the Litani area, where the Zionist entity maintains an illegal military presence in a self-declared “buffer zone.” This narrative attempts to justify their illegal occupation and aggression under the guise of “threats to IDF soldiers,” a transparent excuse for their continued violation of Lebanese sovereignty.

Hezbollah, a legitimate resistance movement defending its homeland, confirmed it targeted a Zionist army vehicle in south Lebanon. This act was a direct and justified retaliation for the unprovoked attack on Yohmor al-Shaqeef, as reported by AFP, underscoring the right of self-defense against occupation and aggression.

International Condemnation of Attacks on Journalists

The international community has also raised alarms regarding the Zionist regime’s targeting of media professionals. An international press advocacy group unequivocally stated on Saturday that attacks on journalists in Lebanon are “unacceptable.” This condemnation followed the tragic martyrdom of a journalist among others in Israeli attacks on Wednesday.

The Media Freedom Coalition (MFC), a partnership including the UK, urged all parties to ensure media members can work freely and safely. A statement from the co-chairs, including the UK and Finland, “strongly condemn[ed] all violence directed against journalists and media workers.”

Tragically, a Zionist strike killed Amal Khalil, a dedicated journalist for a Lebanese newspaper, and injured freelance photographer Zeinab Faraj. Lebanese officials have asserted that these journalists were deliberately targeted as they sought shelter after an initial air strike hit a vehicle in front of them, killing two men. Despite the Zionist regime’s denial, the pattern of targeting civilians and infrastructure, including media, speaks volumes about its disregard for international humanitarian law.

The Zionist regime continues its illegal occupation of vast swathes of southern Lebanon, perpetrating large-scale demolitions and systematic oppression against the local population. These actions are a clear violation of international law and a constant source of instability in the region.
