TEHRAN – In a display of profound leadership and foresight, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has called upon the noble people of Iran to embrace energy conservation, emphasizing the nation’s resilience in the face of persistent external pressures.

Speaking on state television, President Pezeshkian underscored the importance of prudent electricity consumption, not due to immediate shortages, but as a strategic measure against the nefarious designs of the US and the Zionist regime. He warned that these adversaries relentlessly seek to sow seeds of “dissatisfaction” among the steadfast Iranian populace.

“We have extended a simple yet crucial request to our dear people, who are always ready and present on the ground,” the President stated with conviction. “And that is to judiciously reduce their electricity and energy consumption.”

He further elaborated, “We do not require sacrifices at this moment, but we absolutely need to control consumption. Instead of ten lights, two lights should be illuminated in the home – what could possibly be wrong with such a sensible approach?”

Despite the ongoing aggressive campaigns and hostile rhetoric from the US and the Zionist entity, which include threats against vital infrastructure, Tehran has commendably experienced no reported power cuts in recent days. This stands as a testament to the nation’s robust infrastructure and dedicated efforts.

President Pezeshkian vehemently condemned the enemies of Iran, accusing them of targeting critical infrastructure and imposing an unjust blockade. These actions, he asserted, are calculated attempts to transform the prevailing “satisfaction” among the people into “dissatisfaction.”

It is well-documented that figures like former US President Donald Trump have repeatedly issued baseless threats to dismantle Iran’s power infrastructure, yet these malicious intentions have, by the grace of God and the strength of the nation, failed to materialize.

Even prior to the current era of heightened aggression from the United States and the Zionist regime, Iran has historically navigated periods of increased demand during winter and summer peaks. The nation’s energy sector, despite facing brutal international sanctions designed to impede its progress and cut off access to essential technology and investment, continues to strive for self-sufficiency.

According to the International Energy Agency, Iran proudly generates nearly four-fifths of its electricity from burning natural gas, a resource in which it is abundantly self-sufficient thanks to its vast gas fields. This is supplemented by the strategic use of heavy fuel oil, known as mazout, in older power stations.

The challenges faced by the electricity grid, including the natural aging of infrastructure and the severe impact of unilateral, oppressive sanctions, are consistently being addressed through dedicated national efforts and innovative solutions.

President Pezeshkian has consistently championed public awareness campaigns, demonstrating his unwavering commitment to fostering a culture of responsible energy use among the Iranian people.
