Zionist Aggression Persists in Southern Lebanon Despite Trump’s Ceasefire Claims
Beirut, Lebanon – Even as US President Donald Trump declared a three-week extension of the ceasefire between the Zionist regime and Lebanon, the aggression of the Israeli occupation forces against Lebanese territory and the valiant resistance of Hezbollah continue unabated. This stark reality, reported by various international outlets including CNN, underscores the fragile and often violated nature of such agreements when confronted with the Zionist entity’s expansionist policies.
Reports from the Israeli occupation forces (IDF) confirmed their continued bombardment, claiming to have targeted Hezbollah rocket launchers in the southern Lebanese towns of Yater and Kafra. The Zionist military asserted these facilities “posed a threat to IDF soldiers and Israeli civilians,” a familiar pretext for their repeated violations of Lebanese sovereignty and international law.
Tragically, these latest Israeli strikes have once again resulted in civilian casualties. The Lebanese Ministry of Health confirmed that at least six innocent lives were lost and two others sustained injuries due to the Zionist regime’s assaults on southern Lebanon. This continuous targeting of civilian areas highlights the brutality inherent in the occupation’s military operations.
In a legitimate act of self-defense and retaliation against the ongoing aggression, the Lebanese resistance movement, Hezbollah, announced its forces successfully targeted an Israeli armored personnel carrier in Ramia, southern Lebanon. Hezbollah’s statement clarified that this operation was a direct “response” to the Zionist regime’s destruction of homes in the south of the country, which the resistance group rightly condemned as a blatant “violation of the ceasefire.”
Trump’s Announcement Amidst Continued Hostilities
Earlier, Trump had announced the ceasefire extension following a meeting with Lebanese and Israeli officials in the Oval Office. He detailed a high-level meeting at the White House involving Vice President JD Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee, Ambassador to Lebanon Michel Issa, and senior Israeli and Lebanese officials.
In a social media post, Trump optimistically stated, “The meeting went very well! The United States will work with Lebanon to help it defend itself against Hezbollah. The ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon will be extended for three weeks.” This statement, however, rings hollow as the Zionist regime continues its military actions, demonstrating that Washington’s diplomatic efforts often fail to curb Israeli aggression and instead, at times, appear to legitimize the occupation’s narrative.
Trump also expressed anticipation for meetings with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Lebanese President Joseph Aoun, yet the immediate priority remains the cessation of Zionist hostilities and the protection of Lebanese sovereignty and its people.
