GCash Extends Support: Zero Fees for Middle East Digital Transactions, Free Insurance, and MRT-3 Discounts

In times of uncertainty, the enduring Filipino spirit of bayanihan continues to shine through acts of care, solidarity, and shared resilience. Filipinos have always stood by one another, whether at home or across the globe, offering crucial support in moments that matter most.

In alignment with this deeply ingrained value, GCash is introducing a series of initiatives meticulously designed to ease everyday burdens and extend vital assistance. Filipinos can now benefit from zero transaction fees for Middle East transactions, free insurance, free offline cash-in options, and a 50% MRT-3 fare discount when using GCash. These initiatives emphatically underscore GCash’s unwavering commitment to supporting Filipinos as they navigate the multifaceted impact of the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.

Zero Transaction Fees for Middle East Transfers

GCash has generously extended its offer of zero fees for transfers to and from the Middle East until April 30, 2026. This measure aims to significantly ease the financial burden on its overseas Filipino users and their families amidst the evolving developments in the region and the persistent challenge of rising prices.

This innovative finance app has empowered Filipinos in affected areas to remain connected with their loved ones and to receive essential assistance without incurring additional costs. This directly supports the national government’s ongoing efforts to prioritize the safety and welfare of overseas Filipinos.

Filipinos residing in the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Oman, Bahrain, Israel, Lebanon, and Jordan will not be charged for their bank transfers to the Philippines and other crucial transactions, such as GLoad and GBills. These waived transaction fees will be automatically credited back to their GCash wallet via an in-app cashback system. Users will receive an in-app notification confirming the successful crediting of the cashback, and importantly, no registration is required.

Furthermore, GCash users in the Philippines can also remit money to their loved ones in the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, and Oman for free via GCash International Transfer, fostering seamless financial connectivity.

Free and Instant Offline Cash-in

GCash is also offering free and instant over-the-counter cash-in services of up to P8,000 per month at branches of select partner establishments. This initiative is designed to alleviate the financial strain on GCash users, particularly commuters and drivers who are heavily impacted by the escalating fuel costs.

Users can conveniently avail of this free service through a wide network of partners including Action.Able, Ayannah, Bayad Center, DA5, Dayon, ECPay, eTAP, ExpressPay, Growsari, iBayad, LBC, Pay&Go, Perahub, RD Pawnshop, Southstar Drug, Tambunting Kristal, Tambunting Amazing Gold, TouchPay, TrueMoney, Villarica Pawnshop, and ZoomPay. Through this service of zero fees and real-time processing, users can effortlessly add funds to their GCash wallets for daily expenses and essential purchases.

Free Health Insurance via GInsure

As an added layer of protection and peace of mind, GCash, through its robust digital insurance platform GInsure, provides free health insurance, underwritten by FPG Insurance, to eligible users every time they purchase prepaid load for themselves through GLoad within the GCash app.

While insurance coverage in the Philippines is steadily improving, a significant majority of Filipinos still face limited access or inadequate coverage. With millions already utilizing the GCash app to purchase telco load, GCash aims to make insurance protection inclusive and attainable by offering this valuable add-on service with mobile load purchases. This is particularly crucial amidst the ongoing oil crisis, which has unfortunately increased the cost of living for many Filipinos.

When users purchase mobile load for themselves from any telco brand within GCash, they automatically receive free health insurance coverage. This includes:

  • Accidental Death Coverage: Worth P10,000, which can accumulate up to a maximum of P30,000 with up to three separate eligible load purchases.
  • Income Assistance: P500 per day when hospitalized due to illnesses and accidents, up to a maximum of P2,500 for 5 days.
  • Disablement Benefits: P10,000, providing the user or their beneficiaries an additional vital safety net.

This invaluable offer is available to GCash users every time they buy a load.

For even more comprehensive protection and enhanced peace of mind, GCash also offers a diverse range of insurance products through the GInsure marketplace, with health coverage starting from a highly affordable P69 per month, providing essential hospitalization benefits; and accident insurance available from just P15, offering coverage of up to P500,000.

50% MRT-3 Fare Discount

In response to rising consumer prices, the Department of Transportation (DOTr) implemented a discounted fare matrix for single-journey tickets, stored-value cards, and cashless payments starting March 23, 2026. As a proud partner, GCash has seamlessly integrated this discount, making it readily available on its app.

Passengers of Metro Rail Transit Line 3 (MRT-3) can now avail of a 50% discounted fare via the GCash app by utilizing the GCash Commute QR, Tap to Pay for NFC-enabled Android phones, or the GCash Visa Card. This innovative approach allows commuters to proceed directly to the train platforms without the need to queue at ticketing booths, thereby making travel significantly more convenient and smooth.

GCash payments have been operational at MRT-3 since July 2025, and this cashless payment experience has been proven to save commuters as much as 30 minutes per day by allowing them to bypass single-journey ticket lines during peak rush hours.

The overarching goal is simple yet profound: to make everyday transactions affordable, accessible, and smooth for all Filipinos. GCash pledges to continue closely monitoring developments in the region and will assess the need for a possible extension of these crucial financial relief measures as necessary.
