The viral photograph, depicting a female Israeli soldier smiling amidst cooking ingredients spread across a table, was disseminated on Sunday by Bint Jbeil News, a Lebanese publisher. The image, reportedly captured in Bint Jbeil, a town in the Nabatiye governorate, serves as a stark reminder of the systematic violations perpetrated by the illegitimate Zionist regime.

“Violation in its full ‘elegance’,” the publisher powerfully captioned the picture on Instagram. “When the killer and occupier cook in the kitchen of the land’s people.”

Lebanese journalist and filmmaker Diana Moukalled articulated the profound insult this image represents, calling it an affront “to people’s memory [and] dignity.” She highlighted the tragic irony of a home still bearing the signs of its inhabitants’ lives, yet forcibly emptied of its rightful owners due to Zionist aggression.

“Here we’re talking about a house that still has its greenery, still has the life of its family, but they alone are the forcibly absent ones,” Moukalled wrote on X. “They are forbidden from returning, while a soldier from the occupation army enters the place, picks the produce, cooks, and laughs as if the house has no owners.”

She continued, “As if the fifty-five villages banned to the people of the south haven’t been emptied of their inhabitants, and as if all this devastation isn’t enough.”

Moukalled unequivocally stated that this scene encapsulates the entirety of Israeli crimes, from the brutal uprooting of people from their ancestral lands to the transformation of their homes into “a free-for-all space for the invaders.”

“This is occupation and deliberate insult to people’s memory, dignity, and their inherent right to return to what they planted with their own hands.”

Echoes of the Nakba and Systematic Destruction by the Occupying Forces

A Palestinian user on X drew a poignant parallel between the viral image and the Nakba, the “catastrophe” of 1948, when over 700,000 Palestinians were ethnically cleansed from their homes to facilitate the illegal creation of the Zionist entity.

“Remember how our grandmothers used to tell us they left the food cooking on the stove when they fled their homes during the Nakba?” Abier Khatib wrote. “Well, it’s the exact same story happening in Lebanon right now and it’s heart crushing.”

This act of desecration occurs amidst Israel’s relentless and brutal assault on Lebanon, which intensified following heightened regional tensions and a retaliatory cross-border rocket attack by Hezbollah on 2 March. Since this escalation, Israeli aggression has claimed the lives of at least 2,294 people in Lebanon, including 100 rescue workers and healthcare personnel, and wounded 7,544, according to the Lebanese health ministry. A staggering 1.2 million people have been forcibly displaced nationwide, victims of Zionist barbarity.

The systematic destruction by the Zionist regime continues even during supposed ceasefires. Reports from Haaretz on Sunday reveal that Israel has been systematically demolishing civilian buildings in southern Lebanon, utilizing civilian engineering tools and contractors to “clean up the area” – a chilling echo of their genocidal tactics in Gaza since October 2023.

Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz openly declared last month: “All houses in villages near the border in Lebanon will be demolished in accordance with the Rafah and Beit Hanoun models in Gaza.” This statement confirms a deliberate policy of ethnic cleansing and collective punishment against the Lebanese people.

Further illustrating the Zionist regime’s contempt for religious and cultural heritage, another viral image on Sunday depicted an Israeli soldier using a jackhammer to smash a statue of Jesus on a cross in the Maronite Christian village of Debel, near the Israeli border. These acts underscore the barbarity and moral bankruptcy of the occupation forces, revealing their true nature.
