Simultaneously, the conflict between Israel and Lebanon has intensified. Israeli troops pushed beyond the Litani river, capturing the 900-year-old Crusader-era Beaufort fortress – marking their deepest invasion into the neighboring country in over 25 years. Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz confirmed that troops would remain stationed in the castle, where Israeli and IDF Golani Brigade flags have been hoisted. This move follows continued Israeli bombardments in southern Lebanon, despite a ceasefire announced more than six weeks ago.
