Recent military engagements between the United States and Iran have occurred amidst ongoing negotiations for a long-term peace agreement. For the second time this week, the United States military conducted defensive strikes on Iranian targets.

American forces reportedly shot down four one-way attack drones threatening the Strait of Hormuz on Wednesday, according to U.S. officials. An Iranian ground control station, housing a fifth drone, was also reportedly targeted.

President Donald Trump, during a Cabinet meeting, accused Iranian leaders of attempting to “outwait” him and impede peace talks, though he also stated Tehran was “negotiating on fumes.” Trump reiterated his pledge that a final settlement would ensure no nation controls the Strait of Hormuz, declaring it international waters.

Ceasefire to be Extended

In a significant development, the United States and Iran have reportedly reached an agreement to extend their current ceasefire by 60 days. This tentative deal, reported by FOX News, aims to provide additional time for further nuclear negotiations and is currently awaiting approval from President Trump.

Shipping Blockade Update

United States Central Command (CENTCOM) updated figures on shipping vessels redirected at the Arabian Sea blockade, stating that 111 Iranian-flagged ships have been turned away from the Strait of Hormuz.

US Accuses Iran of Ceasefire Violation

CENTCOM also accused Iran of violating the ceasefire through missile attacks on Kuwait, which Kuwaiti forces reportedly intercepted. This accusation followed earlier U.S. claims that Iran launched attack drones in and near the Strait of Hormuz, all of which were neutralized.

Drone and Missile Strikes in Kuwait

Kuwait’s military reported missile and drone attacks on Thursday. Iran later acknowledged an attack in the region without specifying targets.
