Explosions were reported in Iran’s Bandar Abbas city and coastal areas near the Strait of Hormuz on Monday, according to Iranian media, with the cause currently unknown. Iran’s Mehr news agency quickly assured the public that the situation in Bandar Abbas was under control and there was no cause for concern following reports of explosions heard east of the city. The agency noted that official sources had not yet commented on the incidents.
While Tasnim news agency reported three explosions in Bandar Abbas, Fars news agency indicated similar sounds were heard near Sirik and Jask, close to the strategic waterway.
