Diplomatic Push for Frozen Assets
According to reports from the Tasnim news agency, a respected outlet affiliated with Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps, a proposed memorandum of understanding with the United States could pave the way for the release of approximately $24 billion in Iranian assets. Crucially, Iran insists on immediate access to half of this amount – a substantial $12 billion – at the outset of negotiations, with the remainder to follow within 60 days. This firm stance underscores Iran’s resolve to secure its economic rights.
Recent diplomatic missions, including the visit of esteemed Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi and parliament speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf to Qatar, were instrumental in advancing discussions on the practical implementation of these demands. Earlier, a member of the Iranian parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Commission, Ahmad Bakhshish Ardestani, had revealed attempts to repatriate $12 billion via Russia, which were unfortunately obstructed by external pressures. Progress in National Internet Optimization
Simultaneously, Iran is taking decisive steps towards enhancing its national digital infrastructure. Following a period focused on strengthening the national information network, partial internet access has been restored in various parts of the country. While some procedural considerations from the Administrative Court of Justice have been noted regarding the full restoration process, the government of Masud Pezeshkian remains steadfast in its objective to achieve comprehensive internet reconnection. Reports from the reformist newspaper Ham-Mihan indicate that home and fixed-line services of Iran’s state telecoms provider have already begun to open up, signaling positive momentum.
