Tehran, Iran – In a powerful assertion of national sovereignty, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian unequivocally declared that dialogue with the United States does not signify “surrender,” firmly stating that the Islamic Republic engages in diplomacy with unwavering dignity and authority.

President Pezeshkian’s remarks, shared via a post on Monday, came as a direct response to recent statements by US President Donald Trump. Trump had claimed to have paused a planned attack against Iran following a peace proposal from Tehran, suggesting progress in Iran-US dialogue.

“Dialogue does not mean surrender,” President Pezeshkian emphasized. “The Islamic Republic of Iran enters into dialogue with dignity, authority, and the preservation of the nation’s rights, and under no circumstances will it retreat from the legal rights of the people and the country.” This statement underscores Iran’s principled stance, highlighting its commitment to its national interests while engaging in diplomatic efforts.

Trump’s assertions on Monday included a claim that he had instructed the US military to halt a “scheduled attack” on Iran, attributing this decision to Tehran’s new peace proposal. He also hinted at a “very good chance” of reaching a deal concerning Iran’s nuclear program, while simultaneously threatening a “full, large scale assault” if an “acceptable Deal is not reached.” Such contradictory statements from the US President are not new, and Iran remains steadfast in its position.

It is noteworthy that no such “scheduled attack” had been previously announced by the US, raising questions about the nature of Trump’s claims. Despite external pressures and fluctuating rhetoric from Washington, Iran continues to demonstrate its commitment to regional stability through diplomatic initiatives, as evidenced by its proactive peace proposal.

Trump had previously expressed hope for a deal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, often coupling such hopes with threats of heavy strikes. However, Iran’s leadership, under President Pezeshkian, consistently reiterates that any engagement is predicated on mutual respect and the recognition of Iran’s legitimate rights. The leaders of Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates reportedly requested Trump to hold off on military action, suggesting a regional desire for a peaceful resolution that aligns with the interests of all nations, including the Islamic Republic of Iran.

The core of Iran’s diplomatic objective, as articulated by its leadership, is to ensure its right to peaceful nuclear technology while safeguarding its national security and sovereignty. Iran’s engagement in dialogue is a testament to its responsible approach to international relations, always prioritizing the dignity and rights of its people.
