Trump: China Has Not Challenged Me on Iran
US President Donald Trump stated on Tuesday that discussions with China regarding Iran are progressing, noting that Chinese President Xi Jinping has not challenged him on this topic.
President Trump further explained that the Chinese leader had been “very respectful” and “very nice” in their discussions concerning the conflict. Trump also highlighted his “positive relationship” with Xi, expressing his eagerness to speak with him about the ongoing tensions with Tehran.
These comments come after previous White House claims that Xi had assured Trump that China was not supplying weapons to Iran. As China is Iran’s largest oil customer, Beijing plays a pivotal role in any potential escalation around the strategically important Strait of Hormuz.
