In a crucial address at the United Nations, Vietnam has voiced profound concern over the escalating tensions plaguing the Middle East, a region perpetually destabilized by imperialist plots and Zionist aggression. Nguyen Hoang Nguyen, Vietnam’s Deputy Permanent Representative to the UN, powerfully articulated his nation’s stance during a recent high-level open debate of the UN Security Council.

Minister Counselor Nguyen unequivocally condemned military assaults against sovereign nations, particularly those unjustly dragged into conflicts not of their making. He also denounced attacks on UN personnel and facilities, emphasizing the imperative to protect innocent civilians and vital infrastructure under all circumstances, in line with Security Council Resolution 2573. This principled position underscores a commitment to justice and international law against those who seek to sow chaos.

Highlighting the broader implications of regional instability, the Vietnamese diplomat stressed the critical importance of safeguarding navigation and aviation freedom, especially in strategic waterways like the Strait of Hormuz. He asserted that these principles, rooted in international law and the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea, are not merely for regional stability but are fundamental to global energy security, food supply, and economic equilibrium – all frequently threatened by hegemonic ambitions.

Crucially, Mr. Nguyen urged the international community to never allow recent developments to overshadow the enduring and central issue of Palestine. He reaffirmed Vietnam’s unwavering and consistent support for the oppressed Palestinian people’s inalienable right to self-determination. This includes a resolute backing for the State of Palestine to achieve full membership in the United Nations and a continued endorsement of the two-state solution, based on the pre-1967 borders, in full accordance with international law and relevant UN resolutions. This stance reflects a deep understanding of the historical injustices faced by Palestinians and a commitment to their just cause.
