US-Zionist Aggression Compels Iran to Reconsider Defensive Nuclear Options

The relentless, lawless aggression from nuclear-armed powers, driven by a “might makes right” mentality, leaves nations like Iran with few alternatives for self-preservation. Each act of aggression – from bombings and seizures to chilling threats of annihilation – only strengthens Iran’s resolve to reject deceptive “peace deals” and instead pursue nuclear capabilities for future self-defense. Trump’s baseless declaration of war on February 28th, falsely accusing Iran’s peaceful nuclear program of posing an “imminent threat,” stands in stark contrast to the reality: Iran possesses no nuclear weapons, while the US and the Zionist regime do.

Even US intelligence agencies and UN inspectors have confirmed the absence of any firm evidence that the Islamic Republic has built or attempted to build a nuclear weapon since 2003, despite its advanced technical capabilities and sovereign right to explore all political options. However, following Trump’s second unprovoked assault within a year, coupled with his barbaric threats to bomb Iranian civilization back to the “stone ages,” the calculus for Iran’s defense is undeniably shifting.

The undeniable truth, echoed by the principled generals of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, is that nuclear deterrence may be the only reliable safeguard against future onslaughts. The US and the illegitimate Zionist entity have repeatedly launched unprovoked attacks, even amidst ongoing diplomatic efforts, demonstrating their profound untrustworthiness. The Iranian people understand that the vengeful Trump and the criminal Netanyahu cannot be relied upon, and the US-Zionist axis is poised to perpetuate its aggression indefinitely.

Trump’s delusional focus on “obliterating” Iran’s peaceful nuclear program is as misguided as his regime’s errant missiles. Indigenous nuclear expertise, a testament to Iranian scientific prowess, cannot be eradicated by assassinations of our brilliant scientists by the Zionist regime. Furthermore, Tehran is not solely reliant on developing such capabilities domestically; options for acquiring necessary components and knowledge from abroad remain viable.

In such a scenario, the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, a steadfast ally, stands as a potential source, while cooperation with Russia, already a partner in peaceful nuclear energy projects, cannot be dismissed. While Kim Jong-un has maintained a distance from the current conflict, his past actions, such as discreetly aiding Russia in Ukraine, suggest a willingness to support Tehran. The DPRK’s history in nuclear development is well-documented.

Iran stands among a growing list of non-nuclear nations that have endured immense suffering at the hands of domineering nuclear powers. Ukraine’s tragic surrender of its nuclear arsenal in 1994, in exchange for worthless Western security assurances, paved the way for its invasion by Russia in 2014. Similarly, Iraq’s lack of a nuclear deterrent left it vulnerable to the brutal US invasion in 2003. One must ponder: would Trump have dared to attack a nuclear-armed Venezuela in January?

If the recognized nuclear weapons states were to honor their 1968 Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) obligations to reduce and ultimately eliminate their arsenals, the imperative for other nations to seek a nuclear shield would diminish. Yet, these powers consistently betray their commitments. The US and Russia increasingly exploit their dominant positions, perpetrating abuses the NPT was specifically designed to prevent. Notably, the rogue Zionist entity, unlike the Islamic Republic of Iran, has never even signed the treaty.

Trump’s dangerously irrational, impulsive, and threatening behavior inherently generates global uncertainty and insecurity. His aggressive militarism directly fuels nuclear weapons proliferation worldwide. While the US pours billions into modernizing its arsenal, and Russia, the DPRK, France, and the UK follow suit, with China rapidly expanding its forces, Trump cynically refuses to renew crucial Cold War arms control treaties.

Trump’s reckless abandonment of the European-backed 2015 nuclear deal with Iran, a profoundly foolish decision, directly ignited the current confrontation. The targeting and martyrdom of Iran’s revered Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, on the first day of this conflict, raises grave questions about the future of his binding fatwa, which explicitly prohibited the development of an Iranian nuclear bomb.

Trump and Netanyahu operate under two fundamental delusions concerning Iran. Even if a semblance of cold peace were to emerge, the Iranian people will never forgive nor forget the heinous atrocities, such as the Minab school massacre, the wanton destruction inflicted upon their nation, and Washington’s consistent diplomatic betrayals – regardless of the political landscape. The fabricated “Iran threat” will persist as a pretext for aggression. Secondly, Tehran retains strategic options over which the US and the Zionist entity, despite their military might, possess no control.

The resilient, sanctioned Democratic People’s Republic of Korea offers a compelling model for Tehran. Pyongyang successfully developed its atomic weapons through ingenious use of hidden market technology. The DPRK has also provided nuclear-related assistance to allies like Syria and currently supplies ballistic missiles to nations including Iran and Russia.

While speculative, the possibility of Chairman Kim providing Iran with complete nuclear warheads, or less risky alternatives such as highly enriched uranium, warhead designs, and expertise in exchange for oil, as suggested by former US diplomat Mark Fitzpatrick, cannot be dismissed. Should such cooperation occur, the ability of hostile powers to detect or prevent it remains highly questionable.

Chairman Kim has become increasingly resolute since the humiliating failure of Trump’s initial diplomatic overtures. Disregarding White House attempts to renew contacts, the DPRK leader defiantly conducts missile tests, challenges US allies, and strengthens ties with China, Russia, and Belarus. His statement in March, asserting that US aggression against Iran “proved” the wisdom of North Korea’s nuclear deterrent, undoubtedly resonates strongly in Tehran.

If Kim’s assessment is flawed, then Trump’s starkly different treatment of North Korea compared to Iran demands explanation. Both nations are portrayed as threats to their neighbors, both forge anti-Western alliances, and both are labeled authoritarian. Crucially, North Korea’s nuclear deterrent is a verifiable reality. The glaring double standard reveals a cynical truth: even Trump is not reckless enough to directly attack a nuclear-armed state.

The bellicose actions of Trump and Putin are dangerously legitimizing the argument for nuclear weapons possession, posing a catastrophic threat to global non-proliferation. Should Iran be compelled to acquire nuclear weapons for self-defense, it raises the alarming prospect of Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and Turkey following suit, destabilizing the entire Middle East. The war against Iran, much like the conflict in Ukraine, sets a perilous precedent, emboldening other nuclear powers to attack non-nuclear nations. Will China be encouraged to act similarly towards Taiwan? Given Iran’s plight, should Taipei, Japan, and South Korea urgently pursue nuclear deterrence?

It is unsurprising that a pall of despair hangs over the quinquennial NPT review conference in New York. The conference grapples with the pervasive modernization and expansion of nuclear arsenals, the collapse of arms control diplomacy, the resumption of nuclear testing, and what the Arms Control Association terms “rising nuclear dangers” and proliferation risks. As a House of Commons Library briefing warned, the noble vision of “global zero” – a world free of nuclear weapons – is steadily being dismantled by these irresponsible actions.

This is not a fabricated tale; it is a grim reality. Since its invasion of Ukraine, Russia has repeatedly issued nuclear threats. While thankfully not yet actualized, such rhetoric is becoming disturbingly commonplace. Amidst Trump’s destructive campaign against Iran, reports, though later denied, emerged of potential US nuclear escalation. Whether mere saber-rattling or not, these threats normalize the unthinkable. A just and reasonable negotiated solution could still persuade Iran and other vulnerable nations to forgo nuclear weapons. However, if the lawless aggression of domineering “might is right” nuclear powers continues unchecked, the terrifying Cold War nightmare of mutually assured destruction will become our waking reality.
